The Story:
Design and ergonomics as the keys factors of efficiency:
Cooperation between OM and Zagato Design

In 1919 Ugo Zagato who first worked for an aeronautics firm established his own company under the name "Carrozzeria Zagato" for the purpose of the adaptation of aeronautics technologies to the merging automobile industry for the passengers confort sake. Car bodies designed by Zagato rapidely won fame and became synonymous of ease and splendid aerodynamics. Automobile companies like Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia to name but a few, immediately realized the advantages of Zagato steamlined shapes.
Automobiles designed by Zagato invariably conquered in races and the name Zagato became to be asociated with the names of the famous racers of the interwar time: Ferrari, Nuvolari, Askari, Fandzho, Moss, Bandini, Scarfiotti and others. Since then Zagato has put its signature on all the most important mechanics of the last century, by having the opportunity to create, every time, models which have become classical ones. The successful cooperation between Zagato and OM has its beginning also in this time, in this early years of the company when O.M was also producing cars. In the year 1927 a car constructed by OM, the O.M. 665 Superba with Zagato design won the first Mille Miglia. Until today the starting number one of the Mille Miglia is reserved for an O.M. 665 Superba.
